General Do`s
General Do's
- Always get at least 3 quotations for both labour and materials.
- If in doubt about anything, ask questions.
- Make sure that you use a reputable engineer when needed. They will sign off on any work done and then and only then should you make a stage payment.
- Make sure that you contact the references provided by the trades people.
- Remember the cheapest quote does not necessarly provide the best value for money in the long run. However sometimes it can be great value for money.
- Just because a quote is more expensive does not mean that the quality will be better.
- Compare apples with apples. Make sure that you are being quoted for the same work by the different trades and or material suppliers.
- Some trades will provide their own equipment for example cement mixers, scaffolding etc this will save you money on plant hire.
- Make sure that the quote includes vat. Labour should be @13.5% and materials should be @ 21.5%.
